“Alamat” is a modern sarsuela (musical) that tells the legend of how the 7,107 islands of the Philippines came to be. A simple love story with songs and dances from three
major islands groups: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, it tickles the audience with the magical and sometimes quirky characters from Philippine myths and fables.Alamat features the Filipino Folk and love songs, Nung Unang Panahon, Bituing Marikit, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, Usahay, Sinisinta Kita, Isang Mundo, Isang Awit and dances, La Jota Moncadena, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Maglalatik, Tinikling and Tiklos.

Story by Emilio and Alpha Nicolasin, Baron and Louella Cabalona, and Jay Espano

Alamat was originally staged by SamaSama Project and Hataw Pinoy along with the Niles North Dancers and other volunteer dancers at the Coming Together in Skokie in January 2011.
