Philippine Fest 2016: A Celebration of Philippine Independence Day with SamaSama Project | Sama Sama Project

Piyesta meaning feast, an event where all gather and just have fun. We all know the Filipinos have a unique, fun way of celebrating occasions. The food is indulging, the music cranked up, the people with only stories to tell and laughter to give.

In Celebration of Philippine Independence Day, SamaSama Project took part in the Piyesta Pinoy, Philippine Fest 2016 last June 11, 2016.

SamaSama Project plays a mix of Filipino traditional folk and contemporary music. The band led by Baron Lloyd Cabalona, arranger, drummer and a multitalented musician and actor and commercial model, Lou EllaRose on lead vocals. Together with other talented members Ran Sevilla on rhythm guitars, Cesar “Bobot” Ong on keys, John Kniker on lead guitars and Gerry Lomotan on bass, the will be showcasing their newest Pinoy folk fusion hits.

Take a look at the sweet picture of LouElla Rose and the handsome little dude, Connor. The lead vocalist posted,

“Met Connor today. He came up to me and asked if i was the one performing on stage. When i said yes, he wanted me to put our picture on Facebook. Hi Connor!”

The feast had Cultural Folk Dances, Arts & Crafts, Merchandise vendors, a parade of costumes to show how wonderful Filipino culture is, Fabulous Filipino Cuisine, Filipino games, Cultural exhibits, demos & workshops, activities for the children and young and young at heart, Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, a famous love team, performed live during the TFC hour.and ofcourse, live bands and local artists.

The event took place at Bolingbrook Performing Arts, 375 W.Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook, IL and admission was free.

It was truly a fun event for the whole family.
